Day 2 – Arrival in FCO Airport mid morning.
Meet tour guide and escort group by private coach to 3-star hotel in Rome. After check-in there will be 5-6 hours break, and then the group will meet guide at 4PM in the hotel lobby for a panoramic tour via private coach en route to the Trastevere neighborhood of the city. Here, group will visit Santa Maria Trastevere, said to be the first place of Christian worship in Rome, and built upon a fountain of oil that sprung up on Christ’s birthday – the guide will lead the group inside the church to view its beautiful mosaics and murals. Afterwards, the group transfers to near by local restaurant for a 3-course welcome dinner. After dinner, the group will be transferred by coach to the hotel.
Day 3 –Check out – from hotel
This morning, the tour guide will meet the group at the hotel and guide to the Vatican, the world’s smallest-yet wealthiest- independent state. The visit will include historical overview of the Vatican Museums and Sistine chapel, as well as the hall of Tapestries and the maps gallery, but the highlight of the tour will be the Sistine chapel, where the ceiling is covered with Michelangelo’s famous paintings of the ‘Creation’ and ‘Last Judgment’.
Then you will explore St.Peter’s Square, with Bernini’s 284 columns & the Egyptian Obelisks. You will have a break for lunch on your own before continuing the tour of the city.
In the afternoon, you will see the sites of Ancient Rome, starting with a visit to the Pantheon and nearby Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. The Pantheon, one of Rome’s most famous attractions, is the oldest intact ancient building in the city! You will also enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Pantheon from Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, the only Gothic church in Rome.
Continue on to the Coliseum and the Arch of Constantine. The Coliseum was not only the largest Roman ampitheatre in the world but was also revered in the Middle ages as a place of early Christian martyrdom. Upon departure from the Coliseum, stop for a view of the Arch of Constantine, a religiously significant landmark that tells part of the story of Emperor Constantine’s conversion to Christianity and the subsequent changing of the Western World’s religious views. 7pm early dinner and transfer to FCO airport flight to Tel Aviv
Day 4 –Arrival TEL AVIV airport Group
Meet guide and transfer to our deluxe, air-conditioned, [after 6 hours break noon time sightseeing bus with Guide trip to Caesarea], to the Roman city built by Herod the Great. Here we visit the theater, crusader fortress, and ancient aqueduct. From here we drive up Mount Carmel to Muhraqa, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. We continue to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – TIBERIAS
After a hearty Israeli buffet breakfast (which you will enjoy every morning in Israel) we drive to Sepphoris (Zippori), Capital of Galilee in Jesus’ day. Then we visit Nazareth Village for an exhibition of daily life in Jesus’ time. Next, we visit Megiddo, one of Solomon’s fortress cities and guardian of the Valley of Armageddon. We end our day at the Baptismal Site (Yardenit) at the Jordan River for those wanting to be baptized. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – TIBERIAS
We start our day by driving north toward the Golan Heights. The first stop is at Tel Dar where Jeroboam’s golden altar was located. Proceed to Caesarea Philippi (Banias), site of Peter’s great confession. We return and take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, docking at Nof Ginosar, where we see a boat that was made in Jesus’ day. Continue to Capernaum, we walk through the first century synagogue where Jesus preached. Our final stop is the indescribable Mount of Beatitudes. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 – BEIT SHE’AN/JERUSALEM
On our way to Jerusalem we stop at the extensive excavations at Beit She’an. After a brief stop at Gideon’s Spring, we will travel the Jordan River Valley past Jericho toward Jerusalem. A short side trip will bring us to the overlook of the Old Jericho Road and the Monastery of the Good Samaritan. Dinner and overnight: Jerusalem.
Day 8 - JERUSALEM
We begin with a drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to the mountain fortress of Masada. We ascend by cable car to the fortress built by Herod the Great. After lunch – an opportunity for a dip in the Dead Sea – we travel to the overlook at Ein Gedi to see David’s waterfall. Then, on to Qumran to see the caves where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 9 – JERUSALEM
Entering the Old City, we start our day at the Temple Mount. We visit the Davidson Center where we walk on the original city street of Jerusalem and climb the southern steps used by Jesus to worship at the Temple. See the Western Wall and walk through the Western Wall Tunnel. We will visit the Pool of Bethesda and church of Saint Ann, and then walk along the traditional Via Dolorosa visiting the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Our day ends in the Garden Tomb, as we remember Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection. Dinner & Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 10 – JERUSALEM
Our day begins with a view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives; we walk down to the chapel that commemorates our Lord weeping over Jerusalem. Finally, we come to the Garden of Gethsemane where we see eight venerable olive trees, leafy offshoots of the trees that witnessed our Savior’s agony. We cross the Kidron Valley to visit the House of Caiaphas where Jesus was held prisoner, the traditional Upper Room and the tomb of King David. Our next visit is to the Israel Museum where a Model of Jerusalem as it was in the time of Jesus ministry is found and where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. Our last visit is to Yad VaShem – The Holocaust Memorial. We continue to Tel Aviv to Yemenite restaurant for several farewell dinners. Later direct to our Hotel for few hours break and check-out time around 11 PM towards Airport.
